NCD Alliance Accelerating global action on non-communicable disease prevention
A Drupal website to help achieve the goals of NCD Alliance’s strategic plan.
NCD Alliance are at the forefront of elevating non-communicable diseases (NCDs) onto the global health and development agenda.
NCD Alliance (NCDA) brings together a global network of more than 2,000 organisations in 170 countries – including international and national NGOs, scientific associations, research institutions, private sector organisations and dedicated individuals. The organisation maintains strategic relations with the World Health Organization, UN, governments, and staff in Geneva, London, and New York.
The network is unified in tackling common risk factors – including unhealthy diets, alcohol, tobacco use, physical inactivity and air pollution, and shared health system solutions for chronic NCDs. The website Optima created has helped position NCDA in a leadership role as a movement amplifying voices and sharing real-life experiences to inform and shape the NCD agenda.
NCDA’s goal was to build and manage a website representing them as a movement driving action on NCD prevention and care and delivering results. Optima created an information-rich website while maintaining a simple, easily navigable structure. The website is a wealth of resources and provides almost daily updates in the form of news, blogs, events and podcast content. The site promotes return visits, and new content is made easily navigable using the latest updates feed in the navigation.
The site was built in Drupal 7, a platform familiar to NCDA and was designed to be fully responsive for mobile users. We installed Cloudflare caching to improve the mobile experience by increasing the website speed.
Following the success of the NCDA website, Optima has since launched two further microsites for NCDA to promote other projects. Turning the Tide showcases films made by the BBC Storyworks. We created the layouts and styles, built the pages and hosted the films shared across the NCD global community.
